Del Mar

Del Mar is a highly sought-after coastal community in central San Diego.  Del Mar is actually a very small part of San Diego, spanning less than 2 square miles.  North of Del Mar is Solana Beach, to the east is North City, and to the south is Torrey Pines.

You've probably heard of Del Mar due to their two main summer attractions.  There's the San Diego County Fair in early June-early July (formerly, and affectionately, known as the Del Mar Fair).  The fair is massive, and has art, rides, shows, games, food, and much more.  There's also the world-famous Del Mar races.  Del Mar also has lesser-known events, such as the Del Mar Scaregrounds in October and the Holiday of Lights in December.

Del Mar has a small population, though many people visit the area.  Del Mar borders Torrey Pines, which offers beautiful hikes and ocean views.  From La Jolla, you can drive up the coast to Del Mar, which is a gorgeous route.

Del Mar has a main area with shopping and dining.  There are also lots of art galleries.  It's not large, but it's cute and interesting.
If you're looking for a beautiful, small coastal community in San Diego, Del Mar is a wonderful option.
